Hi waveduke*,

Essentially the blog post appears to confirm New Wave's report that the environment is itself finally changing. The people who matter have conceded the need for TPMs (after the RSA hack and the LM news, presumably), recognise the usefulness of the TPM in resolving their problems by rooting security in the machine and are finally receptive to Wave's pitch.

The argument - are RSA's tokens and software security sufficient? - appears to be over. The TPM movement conceded the fact that it is a layer of security, rather than a root-and-branch replacement of the legacy environment. The incumbent providers conceded the need for this new layer to bolster remote defence of equipment across the network.

In the end, I think this is going to be one of those very swift events: something which at some unique point simply becomes best practice on a universal basis. I don't see anyone else as geared up for that event as Wave right now - especially when it comes to combining the client with server products such as ERAS. Presumably this will change at some point. But this is the optimal moment for them to express their first mover advantage and grab the opportunity that network effects often confer.
