I believe that the WSJ report added unnecessary fuel to the fire. Bids that "in some cases were between $1 billion and $2 billion implies that there were possibly higher bids. Reporting only the possibly lowest bids created an inflammatory story. I assume that any lower bids would have been reported.
Wall St is not for the faint of heart.
This is a strong argument why capital gains taxes should remain at 15% because investors have a shorter life expectancy.
