I think you're close, fred....

On the face of it, an "institutional" investor is found to take a position in the company, and to entice them to close the deal, they are give some absolutely spectacular news that's not available to the regular investors. Sounds great, and certainly brightens the outlook of the long termers who see this as a positive development; inside info + big investment = positive development for the future PPS.

BUT, what if the "institution" doing the investing is a hedge fund looking to short the position? No problem.

When they inquire about the prospects for, say, KINO sales, IFE involvement, or any other flavor of the month, they are told "Well, W.S., Polis, et. al., we don't have a snowball's chance in hell of becoming profitable from our current projects," SHORT YOUR ASS OFF!"
