OT:FDA panel votes for OK of J&J, Bayer drug

LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) -- A U.S. Food and Drug Administration advisory committee has voted to recommend that the agency approve an anticlotting drug made by Johnson & Johnson /quotes/zigman/230812/quotes/nls/jnj JNJ -0.73% and Bayer AG /quotes/zigman/144259 BAYRY -2.08% /quotes/zigman/560378 XE:BAYN +2.18% , according to news reports late Thursday. The panel voted 9-2, with one person abstaining, in favor of Xarelto's approval. The vote comes on the heels of a report by FDA staff that raised objections against Xarelto, or rivaroxaban. The FDA generally follows the recommendations of advisory panels, but isn't required to act in line with the recommendations.
