i notice that already we are seeing less about the pure spider silk and more about some "platform" thing...seems that some are intent on changing the focus a bit and starting to put forth the idea that maybe 60% spider silk would actually be better than pure spider silk...lol...whatever
actually, i did wonder why the garment industry would want cloth made of a product that wouldnt wear and tear much...sure women buy because of changing styles..but not all women...and certainly they would modify that a lot if the prices were too high....but men just generally buy when their clothes wear out..and thats when they might change styles...so the idea that people would have to buy clothes less often doesnt seem like much of an appeal to the garment industry..my guess is, they want their silk stockings to run after a bit so they can be replaced..and if the spider silk is weakened to anywhere close to that degree, then what is the attraction?..what is the benefit?
as for the medical uses such as sutures, there is no need for stronger sutures...and there is certainly no need for sutures that have ointment on them...when ointment is needed it is needed on a lot more surface area than is covered by sutures...and as for joints and such, what they make them out of now is just fine...they dont need to be as strong as steel or anything...besides that stuff would be years away...
dont worry, there will be news...you will be told that everything is going just great, proceeding as expected...results fantastic...couldnt be more pleased...timelines have changed as they often do..no problem...and then you will get lab news, the manufacturing facility has been approved...the "ramping up" nonsense will be used yet again...the company looking at the spider silk for use in body armour will be "pleased" at the initial results of their testing...blah blah blah...
oh it will be a merry xmas indeed....and no one will care about the much anticipated "fall" announcement that wont come...because that carrot was replaced with an even bigger carrot!...
