I think we agree more than you think...

I want JPMC to be castrated. They have too much sway over the economy at large and it needs to be taken care of. But it needs to be an orderly and surgical process... not just "pay WMI more than you can afford and then be brought to your knees" kind of thing. And I totally agree, it can't happen without some fundamental changes in regulatory practices.

It starts with re-regulating the regulators (FDIC collusion... I never, ever thought that'd happen, but then again I'm not a banker by profession.)

The SEC should also be rebuilt from the ground up. No political appointees. Double-blind investigations into fraud allegations if need be, I don't care - something fundamental has to change, but not by oligarchical decree... but I must admit, I do not know the answer to the problem of "how do we regulate this better without stifling the marketplace?"
