RELATED SYMBOLS: (MOT)

LAS VEGAS, Jan 9, 2003 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Motorola, Inc.
(NYSE: MOT) will highlight its latest in communication solutions at the 2003
Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2003,
Motorola continues to drive innovation in handset, broadband and semiconductor
technology.

Personal Communications Sector

This week in Shanghai Motorola's Personal Communications Sector unveiled its
first 2003 additions to the Motorola Personal Communications Sector's mobile
experience portfolio of handsets, applications and accessories.

Motorola's handsets, applications and accessories strategy moving through 2003
is evolutionary and leverages the strength of the company's 2002 offerings as
well as reinvigorated "Motorola" brand resonance with consumers worldwide.

Motorola's eight new GSM mobile offerings unveiled in Shanghai provide consumers
advanced innovations in messaging (EMS and MMS), Java(TM) applications, GPRS,
EDGE and UMTS/WCDMA, with brilliant color screens and dynamic polyphonic
speakers prominently featured throughout. These products represent the first
wave of mobile phones to be introduced by Motorola in 2003 as the company
continues to demonstrate its strength across GSM, UMTS/WCDMA, CDMA and TDMA
technologies.

The Personal Communications Sector also announced the launch of its new
MotoCoder(TM) global developer program. MotoCoder is a program created in
response to ongoing developer feedback, one designed to enable a total mobile
development experience. The MotoCoder experience is based on open standards and
is supported by ongoing access to free development tools, product portfolio
information, technical training, and additional business model and distribution
channels. For further information on Motorola's new PCS product announcements,

In-Home Broadband Communications Solutions for the Connected Home

This week, Motorola's Broadband Sector, the world's leading supplier of digital
and set-tops, cable modems, consumer gateways and broadband infrastructure
announced its vision for bringing choice to consumers wanting more from their
broadband connection. Motorola's connected home, on display at this year's
Consumer Electronics Show (Booth # 6142, Central Halls 1&2) offers a full
portfolio of broadband solutions designed to keep consumers more informed,
entertained and connected in and around their homes.

Motorola celebrated its acquisition of General Instrument Corporation on January
5, 2003. For Motorola, acquiring GI was key to enabling the company to extend
its vision of keeping people connected wherever they go -- from the person to
the car to the workplace.to the "home." Three years almost exactly to the Jan. 5
close date, the resulting Motorola "Connected Home" portfolio is on display at
CES Booth #6142, giving attendees a firsthand glimpse at the realization of
Motorola's vision of keeping consumers informed, entertained and connected, in
and around their homes.

DCP Home Theater Series -- Motorola returning again to its home electronics
roots, while for the Broadband Communications Sector, this is a new and
potential growth area. This is another example of the powerful synergies within
Motorola.

Motorola's connected home devices are specifically intended for retail purchase,
offering consumers choice, and bringing expanded opportunities for network
operators and retailers. The product portfolio extends the technology within the
company's leading lines of digital set-tops and cable modems to new broadband
devices and applications deeper within the home. These products include:
all-in-one cable/home theater systems, integrated HD/digital cable solutions,
wireless cable modem gateways, and home networking products.

Motorola's Semiconductor Products Sector

Motorola's Semiconductor Products Sector set a standard for professional audio
systems in movie theaters and recording studios when its first 24-bit DSP was
introduced in 1987.

Building on the success of the DSP5636X family, Motorola's Semiconductor
Products Sector announced the launch of its next-generation high performance DSP
optimized for both professional and consumer audio applications. The DSP56371 -
designed to meet the demands of emerging digital audio decoders from Dolby(R)
technology, DTS(R) technology, and others - offers a new level of performance in
integration, speed and power, simplifying systems design and driving system
costs down. The versatile DSP56371, adaptable for Audio/Video (AV) receivers,
surround sound decoders, DVD players, digital TV audio systems, and automotive
audio systems, is the newest member of Motorola's Symphony(TM) digital audio
family.

Motorola will have three exhibits at the show this year. Please plan to stop by
booth #2060 - sponsored by the Semiconductor Products Sector - in the Digital
Car Pavilion to:

-- Experience Motorola's Symphony digital radio - you have to hear it to
believe it! Destined to be THE hot consumer item for Christmas 2003,
Motorola will demonstrate a digital radio that is engineered to
decrease static, fading, pops and hisses while extending listening
range and eliminating interference from adjacent stations.
-- See Motorola's latest development platform, the mobileGT(TM) 5200, for
vehicle telematics - dynamic automotive systems that combine GPS
tracking and other wireless communications for hands-free mobile
phones and on-board Internet access. The flexible, modular system can
control all the normal functions in your car including the CD player,
radio, mirror and seat adjustments, and air conditioning.
-- Check out the popular MP3-format player with advanced features - via
Motorola's ColdFire(TM) 32-bit architecture - and hear how it boosts
performance and play-back of Internet audio downloads by providing
exceptional battery life, low chip-count, and high flexibility to
enable use with the latest decoders.
