Beijing Mobile Joins Hands with Ericsson in IP Backbone Network

BEIJING, Jan 09, 2003 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- On January 6, 2003, China Mobile
Beijing signed the agreement of building IP network and WLAN with Ericsson. (IP:
Internet Phone, WLAN: Wireless Local Area Network)

According to the agreement, Ericsson provides China Mobile with core routers,
software. The network offers better quality GPRS services than the current
voice-service only network. It supports services of data, voice and multimedia,
and also can be a foundation for the coming 3G technology. (GPRS: General Packet
Radio Service, 3G: third generation communications technology)

Ericsson also provides two sets of Ac and 450AP for China Mobile's WLAN, making
the network covers all hotels and offices in Beijing City.

The delivery has already started and Ericsson will deliver all equipment by the
end of January, 2003.
