ti.....great to see you posting and offering up your scenarios.

I posted the below in regard to a theory of QCOM actually buying the entire company at anything near the dollar figures being thrown around. I have no doubt that they have done the analysis multiple times through the years at lower prices....and passed.

IMO....there is no near or mid term or even long term ROI at this point for Q to do it alone.....for a company that could not follow industry directive and disclose ex-ante rates....or successfully begin to monetize their own 4G portfolio

edited....stealing from Slacker's post this morning...."There should be other entities that are able to derive FAR more value from Interdigital's patents than Qualcomm."

as for Q.....why wouldn't they want to peek? They more than any other company has been brought in to testify in past litigations....and probably know quite well the "value" of all segments of the IDCC portfolio. They also have had IDCC participate with them on some SSOs, and have jointly contributed as well as opposed in their contributions. They know many of the engineers (I might try to see if we could identify how many are past QCOM employees)....

As I stated in a previous post....I can't seem make a case for them buying unless it was 1)in conjunction with "others" to be able to gain a small group of related patent families, 2)at the request of their licensees to clear future IDCC litigation (without raising their rate), 3)....uh....3)...

As Slacker has posted...Q will not be renegotiating their licenses anytime soon. Same rate for 3G as 3G plus 4G devices. 4G single mode licenses have already been signed with the big guys

and I'm pretty sure Q doesn't want to intermingle any of IDCC's patent license obligations with their own.
