Chile, I like your style. You have the most unbiased, open views on Panama IMO of anyone that's posted on this board. I can appreciate that.
Putting myself in the Local's shoes, I can see how they are very leary of foreign investment in Panama. Most of Panama's history is made up foreign exploitation there. The biggest case in point being the Canal, although it did many positive things for the country too. It's my understanding there is alot of foreign retirees coming into Panama to buy up cheap land there now.
It's very understandable that the native Panamanians don't like foreign influences, because it makes them feel exploited, unfortunately the government is still too poor to not have foreign money come into the country and help build-out the infrastructure. In time that will change, but IMO to this point Panama can't finance these huge projects on their own. They need foreign investment to come in and speed up the process. Martinelli has the vision to see this.
