"our politicans have been played like fools" - I STRONGLY disagree...our pols are not "fools"; they know exactly who to cater to/who pays for their campaigns - it's not the avg American, it is corporations who benefit when their guy/gal is in office...Look no further than the conserv-majority Supreme Court decision in Jan 2010 to allow corps/unions to donate unlimited sums of money to campaigns WITHOUT identifying themselves...and nobody can argue corps have a hell of a lot more $$$ than unions these days, so guess who REALLY runs this country.
"they even have country clubs for the likes of Bernie Sanders" - No mention of John Boehner's RESTRICTED TO MEN ONLY country club? Interesting.
"But I do agree with ya on the point of not looking to government..."for anything" - I disagree...a responsible, moral gov't does take care of their people who are least able to take care of themselves - a corrupt gov't, on the other hand, first takes care of those who will take care of them - i.e. corps/big donors.
Take money out of pol and you'll see more than 3/4 of today's pols leave politics...But you/I know that won't happen, in fact it will probably only get worse from here, thanks largely to the SC ruling to allow corps to donate buckets of money to pols to ensure the game remains titled in their favor.
Don't complain for what you don't have - be thankful you don't get what you deserve.
