WayHaw and JMS, I really really hope a deal gets done period. And I think it will with the likes of Barclays managing it, and likes and piggy banks of GOOG/APPL chomping at the bit.

JMS , I am really following your logic and thinking by the way.

I think if it goes over $7B it's going to be a shares + cash deal
fatten it up if so, or a tax free share swap I am game - 2 for 1 if GOOG and 3 for 2 if APPL
they can always then use cash to buyback their own shares later right ?

Still think initial bid announced will be $5B, anything above that will be a no brainer for IDCC to sell it will take decades and mondo litigation to ever see that many billion again
