Evenin' Carolyn and --may I too call you 11 ?-- my Dad used to tell that tale about the walking miles in the snow, with snowshoes on..... but I just had to walk to school in the snow about6-8 blocks each way when I was little (about 8)...just with rubber boots...loved smelling the "coal-like" smell of the snow, and making little snowmen and held them on our mittens on the way...A year earlier, lived in a different place where there was a LOT of snow....rode in an old school bus that looked like a big white box with no windows for the kids...we called it the Cracker Box...inside was just benches and poles to hang onto....Then one magical day, we got our new, orangy-yellow big school bus....It was so beautiful we thought....and we were ever so careful to not make a scratch anyplace on it....after all it was "ours", and it was new!
The kids today miss a LOT!
