Having worked in the news media you have to understand that many immediate information releases read like an interview. If you will notice on the first paragraph that the context of the lanuage is that of a reporter making a commentary leading information statement into the information followed in the second paragraph which is further clarifacation of the interviewed subject's quote. In this case being the CEO.
Many of these PR's are written in a broadcast format not a print format. If you want an object lesson on what I am trying to convey to you sit down with someone and have them read only the first paragraph of the PR as a reporter out loud. You then read the second paragraph as someone being interviewed out loud. I think if you do that you will clearly see my point.
This is nothing to get worked up over. Just listen to the CEO. He is the person that is running the company.
