I think you are right. I will probably one day not be able to get it to work. One more reason for my "I hate HP list" - I have an old monitor on my other computer that must be ten years old and it is still going. They make crap these days. Same as cameras. I used to buy a camera and it worked forever. I think I am on my third or fourth digital camera.
