My mom (who's 87) got a strange call the other day as well:

Had a weird call yesterday from Microsoft saying my computer was infected....I asked the woman for her phone # and I'd call back and she wouldn't give it to me. I pretended to do what she said to do on the computer and she said "Oh, my God, you have a terrible infection, you'rre computer will crash"
So I said what do I do about it and she said she'd get her supervisor. I said forget it and hung up. I got 2 immediate phone calls which I wouldn't answer and they never left a message. I was sure it was a scam but wondered how far they would go. Have you heard of this one?
In the beginning, I told her I had Norton anitvirus so how could that be and she said this wasn't a virus but an infection. I was skeptical from the start.

Pretty sad but at least she did the right thing...
