The Naked Short run took take this 2-5 times higher than a legitimate settlement price.

They've tried to dry up buying interest by flooding the markets with borrowed and/or naked shares.

Problem 1: the buying interest never ceased.

Problem 2: they've already taken their tax-free gains, they never expected to have to cover, their profits will be hugely impacted when the lid blows off.
