Well, so, my positive solution is two fold. Scale back all divisions except the money makers (that puts you in a scaled down mobile home on the outskirts of town...very cheap). Second, get rid of all the personel that have nothing to do with money making.

Keep the gold mine as a reminder, a talisman around you neck, sort of like the slave riding behind the conquering Roman general, saying, 'you are not a god, you are only a mortal man.' Or 'you are not midas, you are intrusted with other people's money that trust you.'
