Pivotal DIDN'T have to buy the SHELL!........that's the BEST reason I have!

I have asked you to explain why they did buy the shell, when you claim MILLIONS of shells sit collecting dust.......well dozens of shells.......waiting on a buyer.

Barclays just bought Lehmans assets, and the shell is still trading. They didn't buy the shell.........but Pivotal bought the shell here, WHY?

thx in advance

Well that is the $65,000 question. Is it not?

Why would Pivotal buy the CGSY shell? Unfortunately for us, a plethora of potential reasons exist - both in the fields of economics and law.

Nevertheless, were I to hazard a guess, I propose that Pivotal purchased the shell as the result of a compromise made inside the bankruptcy proceedings. Such a compromise would likely burden Pivotal with certain financial responsibilities to past creditors in exchange for the many wonderful gifts (e.g., assets) Pivotal received by way of the bankruptcy court's rulings.

Alas, I know not. I only guess. Apropos, we all find ouselves in the same boat in this regard. Hence, the gamble... the lotto play. It is the nature of this beast. Some will win; some will lose. Nevertheless, and quite dispositively, time shall reveal the determinitive facts. Consequently, as to this particular issue, adieu... for the time being.

P.S. I sense far too much emotion involved in this matter - in this problem involving primarily logical deduction, economic analysis, and mathematics. "To fight a case on emotional grounds is the surest way of losing it. Emotions muddy the issue. Cold, clear logic – and buckets of it – should be the lawyer's only equipment." –Terrence Rattigan (The Winslow Boy 1946)
