About All the BoD Ruckus...

· THE PRICE OF POLO PONY FEED. Having not been to the manor born, I’ve never been comfortable with SKS’ level of compensation.
· MARGARET, DEAR, IS THAT WHAT THE KIDS CALL A HAMBURGER? The chummy clubhouse that has been “our” BoD… is just that. And will remain so. Noises aside.
· TRANSFUSION/CONFUSION. Adding some new blood to the BoD is probably a good idea… in principle. Here’s another way of saying the same thing: In principle, it’s probably a good idea for me to be married to Salma Hayek. But… uh… that ain’t gonna happen except in one of the 23 parallel universes I’m currently exploring. Time is, as you know, vertical… not horizontal. Do your own research.
· HITTING IT ALL WITH THE BRICK BAT OF REALITY. The bigger question is… and this has already been asked… what would an addition here or there do to change the realities of the Trusted Computing marketplace… i.e. adoption? Nothing. Nada. Zip. Contrary to now-ancient mythology… we don’t have a selling problem. And, really, it’s not a marketing problem… though “our” marketing does need improvement. Repeat: it does need improvement. The problem is, at least in part, a “revolution vs. evolution” problem. And “we’ve” been all-in on the hardware-based revolution side for a long time. It’s just tad bit too late to retrench, I’m afraid. We don’t have the products (add-ons rather than built-ins) for an evolution. Oh… and speaking of problems… it wasn’t wise of Mr. Feeney to get blurty and all like he did on the call before last. Blurts and bubbles and irrepressible outbursts and otherwise gaseous emanations are… not… helpful.
· MY CHASTENED LOOK. The good news… and there is some… is that the revolution has not been crushed. It might have been. Pause. In fact, the news is better than that… but I’m trying to sound chastened by the experience and all. Smile. Oh… I’m so chastened. This is my chastened look.
· OF HORSES WHO BRUNG US AND ALL. And whom do I credit for the revolution not being crushed? Wave senior management… that’s whom. There are others who deserve credit, too. But… mostly… it’s the horses who brung us.

Best Regards,

c m
