I believe it's reasonably accurate to say that about 60-70% of disputes are settled on the courthouse steps.

In this case, the "Courthouse steps" mean the long weekend of May 28th, 29th and 30th.

Several days before that weekend, the lawyers will throw bravado aside, and start getting extremely nervous.

They know verdicts are totally unpredictable, and one misstep could be very painful for them, as well as the client.

Let's hope the percentages hold up.
