PLASTICON PROCURES LATEST GENERATION OF SLAB BOLSTER MOLD

The Most Technically Advanced Slab Bolster Mold Ever To Be Produced

Lexington, Kentucky May 10, 2005 (Business Wire)--Plasticon International Inc. (Pink Sheets: PLNI) today announced the Company has purchased the latest generation of slab bolster mold.

This newest generation of slab bolster mold is the most technologically advanced design ever to be produced, incorporating the latest state of the art engineering. This new technology allows for many advantages in the production of the Company’s patented Slab Bolster rebar support product.

Production capacity with the new mold now increases to 60 feet per shot verses 10 feet for the older generation of molds. This is an explosive increase of 600 percent in production capability and allows for some 42,000,000 feet to be produced annually.

This latest mold design allows for a major increase in the allocation of new material. It will create a more cost effective production cycle, which will substantially lower out put costs. This new generation of Slab Bolster Mold increases productivity markedly, making the Company more profitable.

With Plasticon’s ability to increase production, while substantially lowering output costs, allows the Company to position itself to significantly increase sales going forward. The new mold design will give the Company cost competitive advantages as it negotiates additional sales opportunities around the world. Sales from the increased production capabilities of the new mold could top $12,000.000.00, a major portion of which is already under contract.

About the Slab Bolster Product

The Slab Bolster is used to support steel reinforcing bar as it is used in concrete structures.

Plasticon International’s patented Slab Bolster product offers the state of the art design in concrete reinforcing bar supports. This single product revolutionizes the rebar support industry and replaces all six of the existing support products, including wire, wire tipped, wired pipped, stainless, galvanized, and epoxy coated slab bolsters.

This revolutionary product with its unique engineering and design features offers many advantages over conventional rebar support products.

Plasticon’s Slab Bolster maintains it’s tolerance even after rebar has been placed on it, thereby eliminating the need to continually adjust the supports to meet engineering design specifications.

Because it is made from recycled plastics, the supports will not rust.
The product will not absorb water.
It is impervious to chloride ion attack. (decay of the support product )
It is dielectric. (will not conduct electricity )
For the above reasons, the incidence of spaulling is reduced dramatically, which is not the case with conventional support products. Spalling is the phenomenon where concrete tends to crack or break away due in part to rusting, decaying, or the use of non dielectric support products.

In addition to these advantages, there is no overlapping with Plasticon’s Slab Bolster product.
Overlapping occurs in the use of conventional support products as they are placed in a particular job application and overlapped as the sections are joined together.

Due to the unique snap lock system which is a part of Plasticon’s patented Slab Bolster design overlapping is totally eliminated and support sections are quickly and easily joined together end to end using the snap lock system. This snap lock system results in a 6 to 7 % savings in the costs of materials on every application by eliminating overlapping, an obviously significant margin. There is an added savings of labor costs as the conventional process of overlapping and tying the supports together is also eliminated. These savings further serve to increase the Company’s cost competitive advantages.
