Spider69 .. With each passing day this move with WM, et al looks like it was almost exclusively focused on the long term. That could explain their apparent lack of concern over the short term effect on the SP from the timing, suddenness and magnitude of the announcement. It could also explain Janet's surprise at the SP drop. Sounds like the WM promotion was extremely well received internally. Perhaps they see it so clearly as a very positive move for the future of the company they just can't understand why all shareholders didn't view it the same way.

I am extremely impressed by the BOD's gutsy, decisive move. I don't think we have seen the last of such actions either. It tells me that they see a very bright future for IDCC and they are going to do what they can to insure that it happens. Most importantly to me, this BOD has shown they are willing to stand a lot of heat so that they can remain in the kitchen and produce just the right recipe to build long-term shareholder value.
