Security is a key issue for connected embedded systems that are susceptible to malware and other attacks and in many cases, have sensitive data or limited access that should be protected. Learn about the concepts of trust and Trusted Platforms and get a review of basic security terms. The session will review the architecture of the Trusted Platform Module component and its application in embedded systems with examples of system design shown. There also will be discussion of development of software for these systems.

Presentation Abstract
Embedded devices with the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) can store digital certificates, keys and passwords and enable strong authentication, data protection, access control, secure VPN and peer-to-peer networks and safer commerce transactions. This class teaches how to develop applications for these usages to build on the TPM. Developers will learn about the open spec called the Trusted Software Stack and available tools and techniques for writing trusted applications, as well as a short overview of the TPM and its capabilities in embedded systems.
