Sony BMG and Warner/Chappell Music have joined forces on a recent publishing
deal, paving the way for a quicker rollout of various digital assets.
Warner/Chappell, the publishing arm for Warner Music, controls a catalog of
over one million songs. The new arrangement will allow Sony BMG to deliver
ringtones, ringbacks, full song downloads and digital video clips more
quickly, as well as a host of new video delivery formats. The deal also
helps pave the way for a broader rollout of DualDiscs, which feature a CD on
one side and DVD content on the other. "This agreement reflects our shared
commitment to effectively work together in developing new business
opportunities and realize the full promise of the digital age," said Ron
Wilcox, executive vice president of Sony BMG. The move follows a similar
tie-up between Sony BMG and EMI Music Publishing.
