sylvester80-- I doubt it will happen to either. If US Air went *POOF*, as it deserves, the other major airlines would not continually count on employee give backs and the fed govt to bail them out. For decades there has been a belief that ALL the major airlines are needed. Everyone agrees with that but the question of HOW MANY major airlines has never been addressed. Watching US Air go *POOF* would send a wake up call to all involves, from the boardrooms to the union halls. Only then would some of the CEOs of the profitable minor lines be looked at as replacements. If we were fortunate enough to see UAL not be able to get funding & go *POOF* the sector would become healthier. The drawback there is the majors would have (temporary) pricing power in US markets and continue to make dumb mistakes.
