Monitoring of remote and mobile assets that do not have a power source has always been challenging. This type of remote monitoring requires careful compromise between device size and battery life.

Cinterion, a provider of machine-to-machine (M2M) communication modules, announced a partnership with Ayantra, a provider of remote asset management solutions and a Gemalto company, to launch an innovative remote monitoring solution called FleetWare for tracking assets that do not have a power source.

The power-efficient FleetWare now offers a long-lasting solution in a miniaturized form factor. The module is easy to install in even the most constrained spaces, according to company officials.

The new FleetWare remote monitoring solution is based on Cinterion’s (News - Alert) tiny BG2 module, which meets the small size requirements necessary for tracking non-powered assets such as shipping containers, fertilizer tanks, agricultural storage sheds and more.

Featuring a compact design and an integrated antenna, Cinterion’s BG2 wireless M2M communications module enables reliable cellular communications virtually anywhere in the world.

“Cinterion is our communications technology partner for the highest quality, most reliable wireless M2M modules as well as mission-critical customer support and product approvals that helped expedite our time to market,” said Ashok Teckchandani, CEO of Ayantra, in a statement. “BG2’s compact size, global communications ability and fast sync times enabling optimized power consumption made it a great choice for FleetWare.”

The M2M module can reduce total cost of ownership for customer applications and offer optimized power efficiency, best-in-class 2G features and Full Type Approval plus pre-approval with the largest global mobile network operators.

FleetWare monitors data and sends updates over cellular networks from anywhere in the world to the Ayantra server. Authorized users can log on anytime to view the status of assets and manage out-of-sight equipment.

According to Peter Fowler, Cinterion’s regional president for the Americas at FleetWare, powered by Cinterion’s BG2 module dramatically cuts costs by providing remote management of assets that once required bi-weekly field technician service visits that cost at least $75 per truck roll.
Recently Cinterion announced M2M partnership with InterDigital, wireless technology developer for mobile devices, networks and services, for integrating M2M devices with cellular networks.

My grandson asked his grandmother if she had any pictures when her skin was tight.

He better quit asking questions while he's still in the will.
