REASON FOR SANSWIRE 1 DELAY

This is the repost and it makes a lot of sense.
I am reposting this so it will calm some of yours anxioties.

Repost:

"....... First of all, initial construction of the S-1 sub-assemblies began at Redlands Municipal Airport (L-12). The hangar there was 50 x 50 foot square with a 30 foot high ceiling. There was sufficient room to set up jigs and fixtures and get construction of the SUB-ASSEMBLIES underway.

In the interim, SNWR people tried to get a large hangar at the former George AFB in Victorville, Ca. The problem there was that all the large hangars were taken by General Electric and the only other hangar was a portable which needed to be moved in from Bakersfield, Ca. It was a frame type assembly with CANVAS COVERING. In other words, a Vietnam era quick-n-dirty portable. George AFB is only a few miles from Edwards and the area is sparsely populated. It would have been an ideal location to begin final assembly quickly fly it over to Edwards - but, it was not to be. No room at the inn.

When SNWR people went to Norton, Bay 3 was being used to shoot the movie 'The Aviator' with prettyboy Leonardo DiCaprio. Prior to that, some motorcycle cowboy was shooting a video on how to kill yourself jumping over wooden ramps. Somewhere in between they shot a commercial for some kind of conference calling system.

Then, GTEL people went over to Norton and got a foot in the door. There was no more filming going on and they rented 1/2 of the hangar for the S-1.

Nobody ever said that Norton AFB was the panacea for the S-1 flight tests. It was a means to an end. It was known from day one that getting flight approval from the FAA to fly out of Norton would be a complex problem.

Then comes the NASA boys. They either had or have suitable facilities at Palmdale. It is a stones throw away (like George AFB) away from Edwards. So, rather than stroke the FAA's fur the wrong way, the logical solution was to take the bird apart and ship it up to Palmdale and thumb their noses at the FAA.

Huff already committed himself to a public showing BEFORE the opportunity to transition to Palmdale. Common sense tells you not to wax your pick-up truck if it is going to be in an offroad rally. So why throw good money down the drain by building up the airship when the plan is to relocate it TO A BETTER FACILITY?

Why put $40,000 worth of helium into it only to vent it off before the ship is PARTIALLY DISMANTLED FOR SHIPMENT TO PALMDALE?

The outer hull covering also costs THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS....so why WASTE money? They put enough on the ship so you can get an idea as to how it will look. If this were government money - no problem - but all this cash comes from GTEL and they are NOT A BOTTOMLESS PIT WHEN IT COMES TO CASH. They're on a budget just like you and the old Mistress. Small companies simply don't throw away 60 or $70,000.

Lockheed got $40,000,000 dollars five years ago to build an airship and their engineers haven't gotten off their dead azzes to even start the damn thing. In six months, GTEL has gone from drafting board to prototype on a limited cash budget. They packed the R&D with NASA-types, modified the S-1 for greater payload and endurance capacity, increased the lifespan of the vehicle from only a few months (due to Ultraviolet radiation) to more than 18 months....and yet, some shareholders are going, "Boo, hoo, hoo, Huff lied because it wasn't floating."

Those crybabies should keep their day jobs as security guards, busboys and grocery baggers because they have absolutely no idea whatsoever as to the enormous and complex tasks involved in building a high tech vehicle such as this. That's why the NASA boys are involved....BECAUSE IT IS EXTREMELY COMPLEX.

The bottom line is: HUFF NEVER LIED ABOUT A THING. THE S-1 IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. THE OPPORTUNITY TO MOVE TO PALMDALE CAME AFTER THE PUBLIC VIEWING ANNOUNCEMENT. ALL THAT HUFF IS GUILTY OF IS TRYING TO PUT ON A DECENT SHOW FOR HIS SHAREHOLDERS.....DESPITE A LAST MINUTE RELOCATION OPPORTUNITY THAT WOULD BE OF SIGNIFICANT VALUE AND IMPORTANCE TO THE PROJECT AS WELL AS HIS SHAREHOLDERS.
