Yes, Virginia is correct! Richmond is 1 1/2 hours from the beach, the ski slopes and D.C. It's a great city as well. It's Southern and everyone is basically friendly. Raleigh, N.C. is another gem...people there are very gracious and friendly. The traffic there is getting bad. Charlottesville, home of UVa is an hour away...very scenic, bucolic setting...
