I can't get the whole thing via Google but Africa Energy Intelligence is sticking to their story about Elan and ERHC. Here is the best I could do...


Shell’s short list for fields


After a tender processing lasting a full year, Shell has chosen a number of consortiums to submit final bids for its stake on four licenses in the Niger Delta. A handful of suitors for RoyalDutch/Shell's stakes on OML 30, 34, 40 and 42 received letters from the Anglo-Dutch giant in the middle of last week.

One is the preferred bidder and the other an alternative.

OML 34: Shell's favorite at the outset of the tender, Niger Delta Ltd associated with Samuel Dossou's Petrolin and the Norwegian firm DNO, is thought to be the preferred bidder. Layi Fatoma, director of the group, is a former Shell Nigeria executive. The consortium is financed by the Saudi prince Alwaleed Bin Talal's Kingdom Zephyr Africa fund.

OML: 40: Smaller and with fewer proven reserves than other acreage put up for sale, OML 40 attracted few bids. Elan Oil, owned by Les Blair and partnered with Emeka Offor's and EHRC are reportedly the preferred bidders.

OML 42: The situation on this block which attracted the largest number of candidates, is particularly confusing. Everything is on hold while waiting for the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, which has a right of first refusal on the block, decide whether it will
