What I find even more troubling is that so many other barking boneheads actually believe this wacko.
All of these people have been looking for a "leader" since this story began. First it was Urbie Casavant, then Roger Glenn, then Maheu.
And now it's Krazy Al, because he's all they've got. It doesn't really matter how krazy he is, or how nutty his promises. They're focused on one thing: money. And they're willing to support anyone who promises it to them.
In the end, the promise may be more important than the reality, or non-reality. They've been told a million times that the "packets" were on their way, would be delivered within weeks, days, even 24 hours. It never happened, of course. And when the deadline passed, they, like the End of the World people, didn't protest angrily. They didn't feel had. They just shrugged and set a new deadline.
