Samsung Overtakes Nokia in U.S. Handset Market

Samsung Electronics established itself in second place in the U.S. cell phone market in February. The New York Times reported Monday quoting data from the market research firm NPD Group that Samsung came second with an 18.2 percent market share, overtaking Nokia. Motorola led with 31.7 percent. LG and Kyocera came fourth and fifth.
Motorola and Nokia came in at first and second place in the American market last year, and Samsung and LG ranked third and fourth.
