PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Wizzard Media (NYSE Amex: WZE), the industry leading mobile content network, today announced it has surpassed 885 mobile Apps spanning the iPhone and Android platforms.

Wizzard’s proprietary mobile content App allows content producers to monetize their shows by offering their audience, in addition to their popular free show, paid access to bonus content, branded virtual products and subscription packages, creating reoccurring revenue models for the producers and Wizzard. Revenue from downloadable mobile Apps is predicted to surge from $6.8 billion worldwide this year to $29.5 billion by 2013, according to the research firm Gartner.

“The Wizzard App development team is working seven days a week to launch as many Apps as possible in time for the expected post Christmas sales demand due to the surge in new mobile phones and other mobile devices hitting the market,” says Chris Spencer, CEO Wizzard Media. “The Company is forecasting strong growth of monetized Apps and their subsequent reoccurring revenue streams through the holiday season and into FY 2011.”

“We have been aggressively launching new Apps for the Android platform focusing on converting our best selling iPhone Apps to Android over the last few weeks. The expansion to the Android platform has been well-received by publishers on our network and we believe it will continue to attract new customers to our service,” says Laurie Sims, President, Wizzard Media. “This is a natural progression in Wizzard’s strategy to become the leading mobile content distribution and monetization service for the mobile entertainment lifestyle shift rapidly infiltrating our society. Our service provides serious mobile content publishers with state-of-the-art distribution services, unique monetization solutions and compelling audience engagement experiences that are extendible to future platforms.”

Press Release Source: Wizzard Media On Wednesday January 12, 2011, 7:05 am EST

PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Wizzard Media (NYSE Amex: WZE), the world’s leading podcasting network, today announced a strategic milestone in the Company’s App roll-out plan with the availability of over 1,000 Apps for Apple and Android mobile devices now available for sale. Overall revenues for Wizzard’s App immediately increased by an average of 20% with the launch of Wizzard Media’s App for Android.

“We have continued to execute and see success from our strategy to extend our mobile media monetization efforts for our podcast publishers,” says Chris Spencer, Wizzard Media CEO. “Our state-of-the-art distribution service combined with our unique monetization solution can be quickly and easily extensible to future podcasting and mobile App platforms such as the much anticipated Amazon App Store. Further, the expected Amazon Android Store signals an opportunity for greater revenues resulting from the marketing power and reach of the leading global Internet company and one of the most trafficked Internet retail destinations worldwide.”

Wizzard’s In-App Purchase upgrades and promotional efforts have demonstrated impressive early success with above industry average conversion rates up to 40%. The marketing of bonus episodes available only through In-App Purchase upgrades increased daily downloads and sales by a factor of almost 7, or by almost 700%. Conversion rates to premium subscriptions from paid Apps showed 40% on a unit basis and almost 70% based on revenue.
WTF with Marc Maron, the number two ranked podcast in all of iTunes (the world) and the number 162 ranked App in the very popular Entertainment category, has seen early success with his podcast App. “We have always had a lot of great premium content and our audience has been able to buy episodes from our web site,” says Marc Maron, host of WTF with Marc Maron, a Wizzard Media Network App offering Premium Subscription upgrades. “We are excited to now be able to offer that same premium upgrade via the App. We are thrilled to see such an overwhelming response when new ones are posted. It's awesome! WTF!”

While Apple's iPhone still has the largest share of the U.S. smart-phone market, mobile devices based on Google’s Android operating system are gaining fast. The Nielsen Company reported that the iPhone has 28.6 percent of the market, compared to 25.8 percent for Android. However, with yesterday’s long-awaiting news of the Verizon iPhone4, Wizzard anticipates strong growth in both platforms. According to CNBC, predictions for 2011 sales of the Verizon iPhone4 range from 9 million to 13 million. This boost to iPhone sales should drive new people into the iTunes fold, creating new podcast and app consumers.
Revenue from downloadable mobile apps is predicted to surge from $6.8 billion worldwide in 2010 to $29.5 billion by 2013, according to the research firm Gartner Inc.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., May 4, 2009 - The under-35 adult population in the US has already adopted Web-to-TV video capability, reports In-Stat http://www.in-stat.com. Over 40% of young adult US households view Internet video on the TV at least once per month. Revenue from Web-to-TV streaming services will grow to $2.9 billion in 2013.

“Once Web-to-TV video becomes simple and convenient, mass consumer adoption will follow quite rapidly,” says Keith Nissen, In-Stat analyst. “Our primary research shows that users want a variety of their consumer devices to enable a web-to-TV video experience.”
Recent research by In-Stat found the following:
• Within five years, the number of US broadband households viewing Web-to-TV content will grow to 24 million.
• Already, 29% of US 25 to 34 year olds with game consoles use the devices to watch streaming video off the Internet.
• In five years, there will be 7.4 million US broadband households that use media center PCs for streaming Web-to-TV content.
• TV networks and pay TV operators currently view online TV as additive to pay TV services, but Web-to-TV will ultimately force a complete restructuring of today’s video services.

This research is part of In-Stat’s Consumer Media & Content service. “Content is King,” but consumers clearly have preferences about the value of content and services, as well as what devices they use. Technology advances in digital rights management (DRM), internet TV, and cross media programming offer content producers new channels for distribution, but pose major disruptions to existing pay TV and mobile service provider business models. Consumer Media & Content (CMC) provides critical insights into how cutting edge technology, combined with new content delivery methods and consumer preferences, will influence the market for digital entertainment.
