Weather Forecast
Wednesday, December 29th - 6:30pm
OK here we go, it's been raining all day long. The Rose City has picked up 1.30" of rain today. Temperatures have been mild, our high 49 degrees. That's actually 3 above average for the date. Big changes take place tonight as cold air starts pouring in from the Gulf Of Alaska. Temperatures will drop into the 30s allowing snow levels to reach very low levels.
Last night and early today a rain snow mix is likely in the Northern WIllamette Valley and Portland. At elevations above 500 feet sticking snow is likely maybe an inch or two. At higher elevations much more snow is likely. The Coast Range could get 6" in The Cascades up to 24". In anticipation of the snow, Winter Weather Advisories or Winter Storm Warnings now cover most of Oregon and Washington west of the Cascades.
Today I expect snow showers to end by late morning, temperatures will remain cool. Highs will stay in the upper 30s night time lows fall into the upper 20s. A dry and cold weather pattern stays in place through the rest of the week and into the first days of 2011.
Tonight's low 34
Wednesday's high 39
Located deep in the South, this city experiences weather typical for this region--cool in the winter, temperate in the spring and fall, and absolutely tropical in the summer. Throughout the year, rain is a constant companion due to the nearness of the Gulf of Mexico. However, this city is far enough inland that it is occasionally brushed by the winter weather and freezing precipitation more common further north--the most notable being the half-foot snowfall that occurred during the so-called "Superstorm" of March 1993.
