u r oversimplifying and i dont think your generalization that it is wrong to target the aggregation of amyloid is very well informed either

i have a neuro degree from an ivy league school but i dont rly remember that much, but on a hunch that you might be oversimplifying it i just checked the wiki real quick

a more comprehensive view of contemporary theories points to the accumulation of both amyloid and tau (potentially as a result of repairing deteriorating myelin) and both of these disrupt neuronal transmission. tau mingle and create neurofibrillary tangles that destroy microtubules and affect transport. but also, even in models that downplay beta-amyloid effects, it still has at least an antagonizing effect, depressing synaptic function in the N-APP/DR6 pathway.

so dont just say theyre work is irrelevant and they need to get with the times. bash in a domain you have knowledge in. Only had the ill minute for a quick wiki review but I might read some papers or something WATCH OUT
