About Community Blood Services One of the largest not-for-profit independent blood centers in the region, Community Blood Services supplies blood and blood products to more than 30 hospitals in northern New Jersey, southern New York State and parts of New York City. The organization, a state leader in the collection of umbilical cord blood for stem cell transplant and research, operates the New Jersey Cord Blood Bank, the only state-designated public cord blood bank for the collection, processing and storage of cord blood. Its HLA Registry is one of the largest members of the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP), which recruits volunteer bone marrow donors.
