GM - General Motors is the customer. It's important because some years ago GM looked at the Dell business model as a way to do the automotive business - vertical integrator, tight relationship with suppliers, low inventories, just in time delivery. Because of the close relationship GM has with it's suppliers means they have to give early release of new model plans. Doing business with GM means you follow their rules and procedures. If they encrypt their data - you need to use same approved method to encrypt yours also - you've got GM's IP.

So, GM is strategic in that it is not only a large contract but it pushes the model into the 1st and 2nd tier suppliers as well as the tertiary supplier chain.
