Politics is about access to power. There are companies that will be hurt by JBI going into production.

Those companies can call in political favors to see if JBI can be derailed or at least delayed. It is in their interests to do so.

That would explain the sudden interest from Albany in JBI.


As an example:
In my city there was recently an election to allow liquor stores. All of the liquor stores in the surrounding area contributed to the folks trying to prevent that from passing. They did that to preserve their business that would be lost if stores opened up in the city.
