Intro

this is place to talk about pretty much anything for anyone
that relates in some way to the rest of the human race.
It's about where we've been, where we are, and where we might be going.

rules are simple

no being nasty........period.....
talk with someone...don't talk at them.
have a sense of humor...
if you're laughing with someone...that's fine
but if you're laughing at them....well that ain't fine

no preaching..........period.
For example, a Xtian says well I believe this or that....that's ok
then adds because the bible says this or that and it feels like a sermon...that's a no-no.
anyone that wants to hear that stuff can go hear it at just about any church on a Sunday.

This is a place where people can agree to disagree but still say what's on their mind which is sometimes going to be a rant if they're getting something off their chest....that's fine...
just don't go on a tear with it ad nauseum.

I really don't care what topics come up as long as they don't dominate when they are specific subjects, like politics.
There's other boards that are all tied up in specifics.

But, sometimes....because of a bias on specific boards, a real discussion gets muddled by the peanut gallery.

No peanut gallery here.
Just talk things out and be decent about it.
we're less likely to resolve things and more likely to gain a little humility and broaden our horizons.

It's about talking about the forest and the trees which means we can be specific or world view generalizing......

My biggest thing is people being decent to each other.
Profanity as allowed by Ihub is fine as long as it isn't directed AT another poster.

I would actually prefer to see a lot of people that do NOT agree with each other engage in civil discussion than a small bunch separated into a clique.

if anyone is in doubt, just fire off a post...

Say: I want to talk about this.....
i.e. a death penalty case comes up in the news....
sure...why not...
what about the end of the world in 2012?
sure...why not.....

someone comes across an article about something that affects a lot of people....sure...why not

What if North & South Korea start fighting...sure why not

the main thing is to be able to listen as well as speak...
if you're a person stuck and can only speak but not listen to someone that disagrees with you....then you're in the wrong place

BUT, if you can speak...and you listen...and then there's counterpoints....sure...why not.

who knows, the rest of us might learn something......
