With the price of gold increasing, it becomes more cost effective to get it out of the ground. ie., in the past it may have been too expensive per the value of gold, not anymore. The other point is that even if it isn't possible today (I'm speaking in theory not necessarily talking about DGRI) there may be a process in the future developed because of the price of gold. So yes, gold in the ground still has value.
