Good schools,(Louisville,Florida State) 25-30% discount on practically everything for ex-pats. Excellent medical @1/3 US cost, (John Hopkins, Mayo Clinic), Only 2 and a half hours from Miami or Houston non stop. Beaches, mountains, & tropics Caribbean and Pacific only 35 miles apart!. No hurricanes.

Seriously, I know many professionals that have offices in Houston and Miami that commute staying two or three nights during week in condos in the USA, while wife and kids are home in Panama. Most spend four nights in Panama and three in USA. Once their wives found out they could get cook, maid, nanny, and handyman/driver for $600.00/mo total with six day weeks, they refused to live in the states.
Oh Yes...Beer on the beach under a thatched roof is really cheap!!
