Got this from an investor on G*IG board. Thought I'd share:

Slapping the ask doesn't help unless the bid is sitting right up against the ask (example .002x.0021).
Slapping the ask when there's no bid support (.002x.0025) is of no value and leaves the person who is slapping the ask holding stocks with unnecessarily inflated share price while the mms walk the ask down.
Also, by leaving a gap between the bid and ask, it makes it less attractive to new investors.

How to walk the bid up:

1. enter a small buy order at the bid.
2. slowly move the buy pps up until it is one tick away from ask.
