I Think T/A is worthless here, unless used against the base index. Compare both FAZ and FAS to the RIFIN index, they are both much lower than the last time RIFIN was above 800.
I have always found FAZ/FAS to be driven by the news of the day for the very short term.
What I generally do is buy options that agree with my viewpoint of market direction, (ITM calls or puts, in one or the other, whichever is cheapest) and buy shares in the ETF which disagrees. While this limits my gains, it also protects me from myself.
October was so hard, because a flat RIFIN meant that every option position you might take was generally overwhelmed by time.
