What is the allure of shorting?

I'm looking into it - that, and what drives investing - making 'easy' money, advancing civilization, helping man. It certainly is an 'addiction' of sorts but an important one in our present society. Others like Eva are 'driven', I think, am sure even, by different goals and satisfactions I'm thinking.

Can you assist me in my quest - what is your drive, ambition and goal here and in life in re NNVC? Is it strictly, partially or not at all to help mankind?
