Sounds like a wonderful trip, GAB. Isn't it fun seeing the places one's forebears lived? I did some lineage checking in Ireland as well and found, though the direct line of descent is from Dublin, the lesser line comes from Roscommon and goes back to the Norman conquest (French blood). I searched church records and took photos of the houses where my great and great-great grandparents were born (only one had been torn down), and the churches in which they were married/baptized. My great grandparents and their children came here from England (over-the-water Irish) in 1912, sailing just one week after the Titanic (thank God they missed that boat though they had many friends who were on it).

There is no doubt in my mind whatsoever that there are AT LEAST 53 shades of green in Ireland! Next time you go, rent a car and drive yourself. You get to see and do more of what you want that way!
