This scenario you have just described is the exact reason why the company has reserved the right to pay out a share dividend. If ever the squeeze occured before the divi calculation date and the price shot up to 14.00$ for example..the company would have been in trouble and had to pay a cash divi on a 14.00 stock price...

So, since they are smart , they prevented this by securing an option for themselves ..
