• Cloud Computing. If you had to pick the single most popular topic for IDF sessions this year, it would have to be the "cloud"—over a dozen events are slated to discuss it. From specific implementations ("Using the Cloud for Large Data Applications: Real-Time Stem Cell Tracking") to cloud theory ("Accelerating the Transformation to the Cloud," "Network Requirements for High-Performance Computing in the Cloud") to practicums ("Designing Cloud Storage Solutions," "Building Information Infrastructure for the Cloud"), it's clear that noncentralized computing will be an unavoidable topic at IDF. And, chances are, something that will become even more important over the next few years. We're not sure if we'll see anything new next week, but if not, it's only a matter of time.
