Okay, after a couple of beers...
Alright, Awk, I'm better now. Nothing like a couple of beers to CLARIFY situations. :)
** So Microsoft... bringing along a lot of its PASSWORD baggage (per VacationHouse's article earlier today, I think)... is UNIFYING its SERVER stuff around the topic of ID... or authentication of PERSONS.
** Trusted computing TO DATE has been about the topic of AUTHENTICATION of platforms, specifically PCs... but eventually other devices.
** My question: how does this all intersect or start to intersect--and I assume it does--i.e., authentication of both machines and persons--when the next OS/Longhorn "leverages" 1.2?
** What we know from HISTORY is that Microsoft tried PASSWORD as a sly way to gain (or sustain) world domination... this time by ASSEMBLING all my private information in one TIDY company, i.e., Microsoft. They got thwarted because no one was particularly enthralled with the notion (least of all banks and credit cards) of enthroning Microsoft as permanent MAXIMUM King/Gawd.
** One thing's for certain: SOMEBODY'S OX is being gored in all of this. (I just hope it's not mine, ya know?)
Best Regards,
