Samsung unveils new mobile phones

NEW DELHI: Samsung, the second largest mobile phone maker in the world, on Tuesday showcased its latest range of mobile phones. The mobile phones displayed also included models that would be launched in India in the next 8 to 12 months.

Among the displayed handsets were the ones company claimed to be breakthroughs in mobile communication technology. This includes the first mobile phone in the world with hard disk drive and space of 1.5 GB, the first 5 Mega Pixel camera phone with a 2-inch display with 16 million colors in a QVGA TFD LCD screen and 32 MB extension memory and the first 3.2 Megapixel camera phone with optical zoom that supports TV output function.

Samsung said in a release that the "Swing Bar" design B100 is the first phone to support satellite digital multimedia broadband (DBM) services and features a MP3, TV output, 4 hours video recording and 2 Mega Pixel camera.

For the business consumer on the move, Samsung showcased its M500, mobile intelligent terminal Palm PDA. This phone has a transmission speed of 2.4 Mbps and also supports video on demand.

Speaking at the event, H C Ryu, director, Sales & Marketing, Samsung South West Asia, said "Worldwide and in India, the consumer has been demanding more and more features in their phones. To address these needs of the consumer, we put together our consumer research, marketing, engineering and technology teams together to create phones that will set trends in design and technology."

The entire range of mobile phones will be on display at the Samsung Stall in the Mobile Expo being held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
