Xoom a share is only a share if you get paid equally per share. If a case settles in a reverse split a share is no longer of equal value in a share for a share.

Usually a reverse split can mean your 100 or 1000 shares are now only worth 1 share after the smoke clears if that is how it gets settled. If it settles as 1 for 1 then a share is still a share.
